ディランの歌でどれが好きかと問われたら、今はこの歌を第一にあげる。
この歌の詞にはいくつかのバージョンがあって、それぞれ、少しづつ異っている。スタジオ録音版、ライブ録音版、海賊版、エリック・クラプトンが歌っているバージョン、、、等々。ここでは、bobdylan.com にあるスタジオ録音版の詞を採った。詩としては、これが最も完成度が高いと思う。
もちろん、歌詞だけを取り上げても、大した意味がないことは、十分に判っている。この歌については、特にそうだろう。
けれども、この歌を聞くたびに積り重なっていく思いは、こうでもして吐き出さなければ収拾が付かなくなった。
自画自賛で申し訳ないが、この歌詞の日本語訳としては、世の中にあるどれよりも良いものが出来たと思う。是非、歌を聴きながら読んでいただきたい。
